Concanentes offer educational concerts and workshops to tie in with concert
engagements. The group has undertaken many projects of this nature, including a series of workshops and concerts for the
Pied Piper Project in Yorkshire, educational concerts in London for the Centre for Young Musicians and a week of workshops
for Live Music Now (involving children from both mainstream and special schools) followed by a concert in the National Centre
for Early Music in York.
Workshops
For primary school aged children, workshops are based on many aspects of medieval times with the aim of recreating the music
and the context in which it may have been performed. For older children and adults, workshops focus on the practicalities of
playing medieval music including finding repertoire, approaching the music, improvisation and so on.
Masterclasses
Theses are offered to University level students with an emphasis on appropriate playing style and ensemble skills in
renaissance and medieval music.
Educational concerts
These are a popular option for a large number of children. Concerts are usually based on a theme with introductions to
the instruments, costumes and music with audience participation.
